Charity Day Apparel - Race Suits - Helmets

1/23/2017

If we are to hold any further charity events we need to obtain race suits for our Witmore & CanTeen passengers, due to new rules as of 1/1/2017

All passengers must wear race suits; minimum; FIA  8856-2000 FIA 1986, or SFI 3.2A/1 (single layer)

If you have any suits that you do not use (that comply with the above standard) or are purchasing a new race suit & would like to donate your old one/s to the Club for our passengers at our charity  it would be greatly appreciated.

Make be some of you also have helmets, you no longer use and would like to donate them also. All would be greatly appreciated.

Upcoming Training Modules - Please Distribute

1/23/2017

There are three (3) training modules that are being held that I believe will be of great benefit to your clubs in assisting with provisioning motor sport for your club’s membership.  I would ask that you make the details of the training modules outlined below known to your club’s members, through your various channels:-

Bronze Stewards Training Module*
Sunday 12 February 2017
Central North Coast Sporting Car Club (Nabiac)
9:00 a.m. commencement (will most likely run all day)

The Stewards Training Module is extremely important if your club holds CAMS-permitted Off Road, Race, Rally (including Rallysprints), Rallycrosses, Supersprints or State Championship Rounds of events within the ‘Autotest’ discipline (e.g. Motorkhana), as a Bronze level Steward is an ‘Essential Official’ in these events & CAMS Permits will not issue a permit for events without someone who is accredited being in the listing of the event’s officials.

Course Presenter**
Saturday 25 February 2017
Kempsey (exact venue within Kempsey TBC)
9:00 a.m. commencement (will most likely run all day)

This is an extremely important training module to increase the ability to hold CAMS training modules in your club’s local area.  Training modules can be conducted in a ‘team’ situation, similar to a ‘team’ event assessment.  For example, a person who holds a Course Presenter accreditation (but doesn’t hold a Scrutineering accreditation) can team up with someone who holds a Bronze / Silver / Gold Scrutineering accreditation to run a Bronze Scrutineering Training Module.  An example of this occurring was in the recent Timekeeping Training Module that was run at Tamworth, where a Course Presenter teamed up with a Bronze level Timekeeper to deliver the Training Module to the attendees.

Event Assessor**
Sunday 26 February 2017
Tamworth Sporting Car Club
9:00 a.m. commencement (will most likely run all day)

*Attendees are not required to hold a CAMS General Officials’ accreditation to be eligible to attend, however, they will be required to obtain one prior to undertaking an Event Assessment.
**There is a prerequisite that attendees must hold a CAMS accreditation other than General Official.

For you or your club’s members to enrol in any of these training modules, please have them complete the registration form on the following webpage:-
http://www.cams.com.au/get-involved/officials/training

As always, I am happy to discuss this matter with you or your club’s members in further detail, please feel free to contact me.

Message to all Competitors

It would be appreciated if ALL off Road Competitors could look at the following to see if you comply, as it will make the Job easier for Officials working at our Events in 2017.

1. ROOF NUMBER; The Roof Number  GR 30 (General Requirements For Off Road Vehicles)

All numbers must be displayed in horizontal format, be at least 150mm in height, with at least 19mm stroke width, with a 25 mm space between each number,  and be black in colour on a white background. (Please note this is not all of Rule GR30)

2. NSW Off Road Generic Supplementary Regulations;  16; Eligibility   16.1, Last Sentence.

A small contrasting colour, forward facing racing number, at least 70mm high, must be fitted. This is to assist Marshals during line up.

If competitors could stand back and have a look at this number which should be either on the windscreen if applicable or on the area above/ or below where a windscreen would be on vehicles without a windscreen, preferably on the Navigator/or left hand side of the vehicle and see if you think it is clear and distinctive for reading.

Our officials do the best they can and it would certainly help if Competitors could assist Event organisers with these matters/issues by complying with the rules.

3. Reminder for Competitors on the rules for refueling cars.

Off Road Standing Regulations; 4.8

Refuelling; The following regulations apply to any operation that involves refuelling and/or the removal/opening of a fuel filler cap.

(i ) Refuelling may be undertaken only at points nominated by the organisers and specified in the Supplementary Regulations.

(ii) The fuel filler cap/s of the vehicle, and the caps/covers/plugs of all refuelling containers must remain securely in place until after all occupants have vacated the vehicle and disconnected themselves from it, and the engine has been switched off. It is not permitted either to switch on the engine, or for any person to enter the vehicle, until after the filler cap has been replaced on the vehicle, and the refuelling containers have been either re-closed or removed from the vicinity of the vehicle.
An additional crew member must stand by the crew refuelling with a minimum 0.9kg fire extinguisher at the ready.

(iii) All persons involved in refuelling operations, or within two metres of refuelling or venting points whilst the vehicle is being refuelled , are to be attired in at least shoes and socks, and non-flammable clothing from wrist to neck to ankle.

Regards,
Marion Baxter
