Good Afternoon,
Just a reminder that there are three (3) training modules that are being held that I believe will be of great benefit to your clubs in assisting with provisioning motor sport for your club’s membership. I would ask that you make the details of the training modules outlined below known to your club’s members, through your various channels:- Bronze Timekeeping (also known as Timing & Scoring)* Sunday 27 November 2016 Tamworth (exact venue within Tamworth TBC) 9:00 a.m. commencement (will most likely run all day) The Timekeeping Training Module is extremely important if your club holds CAMS-permitted Off Road, Race, Rally (including Rallysprints), Rallycrosses / Multicar Supersprints or State Championship Rounds of events within the ‘Speed’ or ‘Autotest’ discipline (e.g. Motorkhana or Hillclimb), as a Bronze level Timekeeper is an ‘Essential Official’ in these events & CAMS Permits will not issue a permit for events without someone who is accredited being in the listing of the event’s officials. The other factor is that I know that this training module is being run in Tamworth in November 2016, I can’t tell you when the previous one was held in the region or when the next Timekeeper Training Module will be run in the region. Course Presenter** Saturday 25 February 2017 Kempsey (exact venue within Kempsey TBC) 9:00 a.m. commencement (will most likely run all day) This is an extremely important training module to increase the ability to hold CAMS training modules in your club’s local area. Training modules can be conducted in a ‘team’ situation, similar to a ‘team’ event assessment. For example, a person who holds a Course Presenter accreditation (but doesn’t hold a Timekeeper accreditation) can team up with someone who holds a Bronze / Silver / Gold Timekeeper accreditation to run a Bronze Timekeeper Training Module. Event Assessor** Sunday 26 February 2017 Tamworth (exact venue within Tamworth TBC) 9:00 a.m. commencement (will most likely run all day) *Attendees are not required to hold a CAMS General Officials’ accreditation to be eligible to attend, however, they will be required to obtain one prior to undertaking an Event Assessment. **There is a prerequisite that attendees must hold a CAMS accreditation other than General Official. For you or your club’s members to enrol in any of these training modules, please have them complete the registration form on the following webpage:- http://www.cams.com.au/get-involved/officials/training As always, I am happy to discuss this matter with you or your club’s members in further detail, please feel free to contact me. Kind regards, Shawn Fitzgerald | Sport & Club Development Officer NSW / ACT The Australian Institute for Motor Sport Safety (AIMSS) has announced its next round of research projects. These will include continued improvement to safety standards, reducing competitor costs, and a radical study to identify the relationship between driving skills obtained through professional driver training, appropriate education programmes and motor sport experience.
Please see more information below: Sunday saw a very small group of volunteers attend the after MMC clean up and this small group accomplished a great deal. Kylie, Ian (Cotto) and Grahame worked throughout the day, taking down signage, bunting & gates including packing away all gear.
Next working bee is to be confirmed, but we will need to repair the track in readiness for the Charity weekend in September which will be held on the first weekend. Saturday will be the Charity rides; Sunday will be Father’s day and a Come & Try day. What better way for the dads to enjoy the day than by giving rides in their race cars? If you can help out with a car or hands on in getting the passengers/ paperwork etc. for this weekend please let me know ASAP. On Saturday those persons from Witmore & CanTeen will be getting rides in the cars and of course HVORRA will be supplying lunch for all. On Sunday, it will be a chance for anyone who would like to go for a ride in an Off Road car. HVORRA uses this day to help raise money for the Charities that the Association supports, by requesting a donation from those who wish to go for a ride. All persons wishing to go for a ride MUST be over 12 years old. HVORRA conducted the BBQ at Bunnings (Singleton) on Sunday, which once again proves that some off roaders are crazy, as they were working in very trying conditions. Although we were lucky that the gale force winds that were predicted did not arrive and we only had to contend with the constant rain.
Jan was in her element as she had never had a cubby house growing up, she pretended this great BBQ set up was a cubby house. Jan, Scott, Luke & Rikki put their cooking skills to the test, Shaun was an excellent saucer & bread man, Marion & Kylie were busy taking food orders and calculating totals. We did have to send Grahame, Rikki & Kristy for more bread as MB would only purchase 15 loaves to start with. The main aim of the day was to promote our upcoming Milbrodale Mountain Classic event while raising some much needed funds for charity. It was great that Scott brought his buggy to put on display which created interested with some of the die- hards and many advertising flyers on MCC were also distributed. Thank you to all who helped out & I hope you enjoyed a nice hot shower when you got home because I certainly did. All in all it was profitable and the $500 plus profit will go to our three charities, Witmore, CanTeen & Simply Loving Taylor. Well done team!! Colo Motorsport Park is hosting the first NSW round for Off Road Karts. They are a new part of the Off road racing scene and will be the first CAMS (Confederation of Motorsport) sanctioned event in Australia for these machines. It will be good to see them running on the special track, built for them at the Park. The whole race track is easily viewed from the spectator area, with practice starting on Saturday 18th at 10am. Racing begins at 11am.
At the Northern end of the property, the Driver Training will be taking place from 8am through to11.30am. Driver Training is a great opportunity to learn car control at lower speeds, but can be enjoyed in everything from a standard car through to purpose built specials. DRIVER TRAINING is a non-competitive event and is open to persons over 12 years of age. After the lunch break the KHANACROSS events begin at 1.30pm. These are tests designed to test the acceleration, braking and general manoeuvrability of their vehicle & the judgement of the driver. Great fun for young and old to take part in and can be done with a road registered car. The Driver Training & the Khanacross are both part of the Come and Try day initiative started by CAMS to improve road driving skills & also introduce people of all ages to motorsport in general. Sunday racing begins at 8am. Off Road Karts are first away on their purpose built track, followed by the first heat of the Off Road Buggies for the weekend. There will be four heats of 3 laps by the buggies on the shortened (to 4.7km) COLO off road course. Going to be some tight racing throughout the Sunday, with the excitement coming to a head after lunch in the finals. COLO MOTORSPORT PARK is located 60Klms from the Windsor bridge, up the Putty road. It is 19Klms from the COLO HEIGHTS Service station on the right hand side. The Canteen will be operating both days with Spectating, parking & camping free of charge. The Canteen even does a Saturday evening dinner if you decide to stay the night. Come up and check it out. If you need more info about any of the above ring Ian 0407 774 348. Maybe to get involved in the Driver Training and /or Khanacross It’s that time of the year again, put this date on your calendar and come along to experience fast, furious Off Road Racing at its best only 26kms from Singleton!!
The annual Hedweld Milbrodale Mountain Classic Off Road Racing event is fast approaching.
